ADC 2013 adds Evernote design, Jason Mark app critique sessions

With early-rate pricing rapidly running out, the GDC Next co-located App Developers Conference organizers have announced two new talks in the Design & UI Discipline: effective first impressions for productivity app Evernote, and Gravity Switch co-founder Jason Mark's on-stage critique of attendee apps and icons. From the creators of the largest and longest-running game professional-focused Game Developers Conference (GDC), the brand new App Developers Conference (ADC) offers professionals a venue to share their knowledge about building, designing, marketing, and selling their apps. ADC will run November 5th-7th at the Los Angeles Convention Center and will be co-located with GDC Next. In 'Evernote Case Study: Designing First Impressions that Last,' product manager Naomi Pilosof and senior product designer Kara Hodecker explain how designing around a new user's first impressions was key to Evernote's success. Hodecker and Pilosof will discuss how their team identified how (and when) to best explain how Evernote worked to new users, and how to quickly suggest different ways users can make use of Evernote's extensive feature set. In the spontaneous app critique session 'Lightning Critiques - What Makes Great Design?', Gravity Switch (FastWeather) co-founder Jason Mark will scrutinize over a dozen apps and icons submitted by conference attendees, so that everyone will walk away with at least three things they can do immediately to improve the visual design of their apps. These sessions join a number of high-profile, previously announced talks, all of which are now available on our expanding and interactive Session Scheduler.
