If you're making games that could conceivably be seen as "retro", you should know that retail giant Amazon has this week opened a new corner of its online storefront that's dedicated to selling such work: The Retro Zone.

It's a particularly notable example of what a big business selling nostalgia has become, especially when it comes to games.

The Retro Zone includes a selection of mobile games (distributed via Amazon's Appstore for Android) that are either modern releases of older games, like RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic, or sport a "retro" style like the recently-released TV show tie-in Stranger Things: The Game.

Of course, the company is also using this as a vector to promote sales of "retro" accessories, including everything from apparel and books to Nintendo's NES Classic Edition mini-console. Going forward, the company is expected to refresh the Retro Zone with new mobile games and discounts every month.
