Apple is letting creators make their games and apps available for pre-order on the App Store.
The Cupertino giant rolled out the new feature yesterday, meaning devs can now make their apps available for pre-order 90 days before they're due to launch,
Anyone using the feature will be able to track the performance of their pre-orders to gauge interest, which will no doubt be useful when it comes to planning and marketing.
Developers will also able to make pricing changes and other tweaks during the pre-order period, although customers will always be charged the lowest price -- so either the one they accepted for pre-order, or the price on the day of release.
On the consumer side, anyone who places a pre-order will get a launch notification when it finally hits shelves, and the app itself will then be downloaded automatically.
For paid apps, customers will be charged before the software is downloaded, while freemium apps will naturally be downloaded free of charge.
