Barnes & Noble Partners With Rovio For Angry Birds 'Magic Places'

Struggling bookstore chain Barnes & Noble has partnered with Rovio to offer exclusive Angry Birds content to visitors of its shops. Starting today, customers using the company's proprietary NOOK Color tablet and its Angry Birds app can download a free "Mighty Eagle" character add-on by visiting one of the chain's 700-plus retail locations. The add-on is part of a larger Angry Birds "Magic Places" initiative, which sees space in the stores dedicated to the franchise, with game merchandise and toys available for purchase. According to comments by Rovio, these "Magic Places" could expand outside of the Barnes & Noble chain. "We're super excited to take the first step towards taking Angry Birds to physical locations around the world," said Rovio chief marketing officer Peter Vesterbacka." Angry Birds has been downloaded over 250 million times across all available platforms, according to Rovio.
