Newsbrief: Rust has been parked near the top of the Steam charts for a while now, but today Garry Newman, creator of the popular Garry's Mod and head of Facepunch Studios, the game's developer, announced via Twitter that it has already hit 1 million sales. The game, currently in a rough alpha state, met that milestone in under two months, following in the footsteps of the standalone version of DayZ, which reached million-seller status in just one month from its alpha launch. The game, available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, sells for $19.99 in the U.S. Rust is a brutal post-apocalyptic sandbox game where players must craft structures to protect themselves from packs of roving animals -- and other players, who can be hostile. "The aim of the game is to survive," says its official website.
