This week, Gamasutra's editors will begin to publish our picks for the best and most significant games, developers, and news stories of the year. But that's only half of the picture. For the first time, Gamasutra is asking our developer audience to participate directly -- by blogging about the most significant games of the year. While we're carefully considering the most relevant games of 2013, we can't catch everything. And while a detached, critical eye is important in assessing importance, so, too, is the assessment of a peer. Game developers are uniquely placed to evaluate games. On Gamasutra blogs, you can share your perspective on the most significant, interesting, creative, or even disappointing games of the year. You can blog about why you love a to play a certain game, of course -- but what would be most exciting, we think, is a deep discussion about why a game works from someone who truly understands that. You could even take a deep dive into what makes a game stand out from the perspective of a single discipline, like design, art, music, programming, community management, business, or whatever else matters most to you. Write a list, or carefully analyze one specific game -- your approach is up to you! The site's blogs section is open for submissions now. Feel free to start blogging immediately, or email blog director Christian Nutt if you prefer to discuss your ideas before you begin.
