CALL OF DUTY 2021 Leaks On Battle.net Under Codename "Slipstream"; Logo Suggests Return To WWII

It looks like we'll be returning to World War II in this year's Call of Duty. Although the new installment in Activision's long-running first-person shooter franchise hasn't officially been announced, it seems files pertaining to the game have been discovered in the database of Activision's Battle.net launcher.

Helba, the developer behind BlizzTrack, which catalogues the library and store updates for Battle.net, was the first to discover files for Call of Duty 2021. The files, which have been updated regularly, reveal the logo for "Slipstream" which could be a codename or perhaps the official title of this year's game.

Other times, the game is simply referred to as "Fore" or just "COD2021" in the database.

While no official details have been released, the leaked logo for Slipstream very much resembles other WWII media. It's also in line with previous reports that claimed Call of Duty 2021 will take us to an alternate universe where World War II continued beyond 1945.

Activision has already confirmed that a new Call of Duty is on track to release later this year. It's not usual for the publisher to make us wait this long for the reveal, but it's possible with the success of Warzone that they want to use the battle royale game as a way to unveil the next installment in the franchise. If that's the case, then we could start seeing more about Call of Duty 2021 later this summer.
