CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS 7 Beta Announced; How To Get Early Access

Today marked the grand reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's gameplay. The footage focused largely on the co-op campaign, with the Multiplayer reveal coming next month.

But while we'll have to wait until Call of Duty: Next for our first proper look at Black Ops 7 Mulitplayer, Activision has already confirmed there will be a beta for this year's game ahead of launch.

The Black Ops 7 Beta will be split across two periods that run from October 2 to October 8. The Early Access period, which is available for those who pre-order the game as well as Game Pass subscribers, will begin at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 2nd, and run for 72 hours, ending on Saturday, October 5th.

Early access will lead directly into the Open Beta, which will be available for all players on all platforms, regardless of pre-order status. This will launch on Sunday, October 5th at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET and run for another 72 hours, concluding on Wednesday, October 8th at 10:00 a.m. PT.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is already available for pre-order with two versions available: Cross-Gen/Standard Edition for $69.99 or Vault Edition for $99.99. Both versions include early access to the Open Beta; however, the Vault Edition features all of the following:

  • BlackCell (1 Season)
  • Operator Collection
  • Mastercraft Weapon Collection
  • Ultra GobbleGum Pack for Zombies
  • Permanent Unlock Token
  • Reznov Challenge Pack (also in the Cross-gen/Standard Edition)
  • Early Access to the Open Beta

If you pre-order any Digital Edition version, you won't need a "Beta Code" since you'll be automatically allowed entry into the Beta Early Access. If you pre-order a Physical Edition for consoles, you'll receive your Beta Code at the point of sale. Activision has not yet revealed what content will be available during the beta, although we can probably expect more information at Call of Duty: Next.

The full Multiplayer reveal is dropping next month, but Activision already dropped some key details. Black Ops 7 is launching with 16 6v6 maps right out of the gate:13 all-new maps, plus three fan-favorite Black Ops 2 classics reimagined for the next generation. There will also be two brand-new large-scale maps, which will be utilized for a brand-new game mode called Skirmish.

As Black Ops 7 is set in the year 2035, Multiplayer will feature an arsenal of near-future weaponry and gear. There are 30 new weapons at launch, including 16 that are brand new to Call of Duty. Black Ops 7 will also mark the return of Weapon Prestige.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launches on November 14th for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC, but be sure to check back next month for the full Multiplayer reveal.
