Bohemia Interactive Simulations and Caspian Learning announced the upcoming launch of VBS Worlds, a new serious gaming application assisting in military training, mission rehearsal, and combat analysis. The project is a joint venture between military training games developer Bohemia Interactive Simulations and Caspian Learning, creator of the simulation-focused Thinking Worlds software platform. VBS Worlds expands on Bohemia's Virtual Battlespace 2, a "fully interactive, 3D, PC-based synthetic environment" for distribution and use within the military. "We are both delighted and hugely excited by the opportunities that VBS Worlds has opened up for us and our clients," said Peter Morrison, CEO of Bohemia Interactive Simulations. "Fusing Caspian Learning’s rapid development and visual authoring capabilities with our own technology and experience has enabled us to take new types of 3D simulations out to our customers in locations even closer to theatre through thin-client content delivery or even on mobile devices like iPads and iPhones." Caspian Learning CEO Graeme Duncan adds: "There are many similarities between our organisations and a fusion of our products seemed like the next natural step forward for us.
