Today Google unveiled a new version of its Chromecast streaming device that has improved video game functionality, which developers can put into both Android and iOS games.

Using your phone or tablet, you can stream certain games to the TV -- and then use your device as a controller for the game. Similar functionality has existed with Apple's Airplay technology -- using an iOS device and an Apple TV unit.

The company specifically calls out Just Dance Now, Catchphrase, Scrabble Blitz, Angry Birds Go!, WGT Golf, and Driver Speedboat Paradise as compatible titles in its blog post on the latest Chromecast, though not all have been updated yet with this functionality.

VentureBeat reports that the company showcased WGT Golf at its unveiling event for its latest phones and Chromecast today, showcasing how the phone can be best utilized to give a different view of the action than the TV.

Google's Cast developer portal offers info on implementing its remote display functionality.
