Clash Royale takes home top prize at inaugural Google Play Awards

This week, Google took the time to honor the best Android apps and games at the inaugural Google Play awards

Held during the tech giant's Google I/O developer conference, the new annual ceremony is designed to shine the spotlight on the company's "incredible developer community."

This year, it was Supercell who took home the top prize, with the Finnish studio's multiplayer strategy effort, Clash Royale, picking up the Best Game award. 

The Standout Indie award went to Spry Fox's quirky speller, Alphabear, while the prize for going global went to The Pokémon Company's match-3 puzzler, Pokémon Shuffle Mobile.
