Dirt Rally developer Codemasters is expanding its portfolio of studios with the addition of the Evolution Studios team.
Evolution, the studio responsible for faltering racing game, DriveClub, was recently deemed surplus to requirements by Sony, with the PlayStation creator putting the studio to the sword back in March after deciding its products were no longer "commercially viable."
Codemasters wasted no time in bringing the entire Evolution team on board, however, explaining that the group’s experience with racers, gained working on titles such as MotorStorm and the aforementioned DriveClub, made the move a no-brainer.
"The success of F1 2015 and Dirt Rally over the last 12 months has re-positioned the company for growth," said Codemasters CEO Frank Sagnier.
"The addition of the Evolution team to our studio group will allow us to scale our business and strengthen our leadership as the world’s premier racing game developer."
Codemasters will also be appointing Evolution’s former studio director, Mick Hocking, as VP of product development; a role which will see him shape the work being done by all of the company's dev teams.
The Evolution team will officially link up with Codemasters on April 25.
