Codemasters Signs Multi-Title Deal For Exit's Photon Engine

Dirt 3 developer Codemasters has signed an agreement with online game network provider Exit Games that will see Exit's Photon engine powering Codemaster's upcoming MMO titles. The engine, available for use with the likes of Unity, iOS, Android and HTML5, amongst others, will be used to power Codemaster's upcoming F1 Online: The Game, along with other as-of-yet unannounced online titles. Codemaster's Bryan Black said that the company had chosen to utilize Exit's Photon engine due to the impressive technology coupled with the competitive pricing. "[Photon] provides us with proven, rock-solid and scalable technology," he explained. "We were really impressed by their team. We told them what we needed and they put together a fantastic demo which gave us a lot of confidence." Exit Games updated its Photon engine earlier this week, adding numerous enhancements and new features including lots of "under the hood" improvements, along with brand new elements for developers to utilize. Christof Wegmann, CTO of Exit Games, said, "We are extremely honored that Photon was chosen once more by an AAA publisher and studio. I think it really proves that we are on track with Photon to become the leading network engine not only for Unity projects, but on all platforms."
