Crytek will be closing five of its seven studios as the company looks to "refocus" its business operations.
In a short blog post, Crytek said it will be concentrating on developing games and tech in its Frankfurt and Kiev studios, and explained that "all other development studios will not remain within Crytek."
Simply put, this spells the end for the company's studios in Sofia, Istanbul, Shanghai, Seoul, and Budapest.
The CryEngine creator says it has put plans into action to secure jobs and ensure "a smooth transition and stable future," although it stopped short of explaining the reasons behind the restructure.
"These changes are part of the essential steps we are taking to ensure Crytek is a healthy and sustainable business moving forward," said company co-founder Avni Yerli. "The reasons for this have been communicated internally along the way."
