Dead by Daylight x Five Nights at Freddy’s: Springtrap Joins the Hunt in Franchise’s Most Anticipated Chapter Yet
After years of speculation and fan requests, Dead by Daylight has finally unleashed its most demanded crossover: Five Nights at Freddy’s. With the arrival of its latest Chapter, players can now step into the terrifying boots of Springtrap, a Killer pulled straight from the twisted lore of Freddy Fazbear’s infamous pizzeria.
The crossover, long teased and widely anticipated, delivers more than just a new Killer. It brings gameplay mechanics that pay homage to Five Nights at Freddy’s iconic features, while adapting them to fit Dead by Daylight’s adrenaline-fueled formula. Fans and streamers alike have praised the Public Test Build for its faithful design and pulse-pounding additions, now officially live on all platforms. Check out the new launch trailer for the collaboration below:
Springtrap: From Static Horror to Active Predator

Springtrap’s transition from the jump-scare master of Five Nights at Freddy’s to a chase-focused slasher in Dead by Daylight was no easy feat. But developer Behaviour Interactive rose to the challenge.
"Dead by Daylight is movement-heavy and reactive, whereas Five Nights is mostly about tension and anticipation,” said Jay Guzzo, the designer behind Springtrap’s Killer gameplay. "We had to find the bridge between static fear and real-time terror.”
The result? A Killer that can teleport, surprise, and manipulate survivors with systems straight from Freddy’s lore.
Security Doors and Camera Mechanics
One of the most striking innovations is the Security Door System. Seven doors and cameras spawn throughout each map when Springtrap is selected as the Killer. Survivors can use these cameras to peek into different areas, while both sides can teleport between doors, allowing for tense moments of cat-and-mouse across the map.
These mechanics aren’t just a gimmick they’re a love letter to FNaF’s roots, echoing the gameplay style of the original while elevating it with new interactivity.
To balance the added survivor utility, Springtrap is also tuned to be more lethal than average, with a focus on jump-scare ambushes and relentless pressure.
Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Map
No FNaF crossover would be complete without a visit to the franchise’s most cursed birthday venue. The new map, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, recreates the eerie charm of the original game with faithful set design, looping corridors, and atmospheric tension. From air ducts to the classic kitchen setup, every detail adds layers to the chase.
Associate Art Director Chase Toole noted, “We referenced the original games while grounding the layout in realism—this is a believable, playable pizzeria designed for high-stakes matches.”
Springtrap's Killer Perks
Springtrap brings three new perks to shake up the meta:
Help Wanted: Damaging a generator makes it Compromised. When repaired, your basic attacks cooldown faster for a short time.
Phantom Fear: Survivors who look at Springtrap in his terror radius scream and briefly reveal their aura.
Haywire: Exit gates begin regressing, flickering lights to unnerve escaping survivors.
These perks combine psychological warfare and mechanical pressure, a fitting match for the animatronic killer.
New Skins and Matthew Lillard Returns

The new Five Nights at Freddy’s Collection includes multiple skins for Springtrap, including a Legendary Yellow Rabbit outfit modeled after the FNaF movie. Actor Matthew Lillard, who portrayed the character in the film, provides the voice, giving the game an extra dose of cinematic authenticity.
With Dead by Daylight: Five Nights at Freddy’s, Behaviour Interactive has delivered a Chapter that hits every note fans hoped for nostalgia, innovation, and raw tension. Springtrap isn’t just a new Killer; he’s a mechanical nightmare wrapped in legacy and loaded with new gameplay twists.
Whether you're a longtime DbD player or a FNaF fanatic, the party has officially started and survival is no longer guaranteed. Will you be joining in on the fun?
