In 2018, the original Death end re;Quest released on PS4, through the developer Compile Heart; after its successful release in Japan, the game saw a western release in 2019. The original game followed a young girl who is trapped in a virutal reality game, and her co-worker who tries to rescue her. Due to the success of the second game, a sequel was quickly greenlit and it promises to be something completely different than expected.
Releasing, in Japan, on February 13th on the PS4, Death end re;Quest 2 decided to change a few things from the turn based RPG. The sequel decided to shift its genre slightly and enter the horror arena. Bringing in scenario writer Makoto Kedoin (Corpse Party), the game promises to give quality horror while bringing in new characters and a whole new story. The synopisis tells the story of Mai Toyama, who finds herself in the same all girl's dormitory her sister disappeared in. Hoping to find her, she explores the eerie town of Le Choara, which is full of creatures called Shadow Matter. It's up to Mai to survive the town, uncover the mysteries of La Choara and hopefully find her sister.
In recent news, due to the success of the sequel, Death end re;Quest 2 is even getting a western release! A new English trailer was released, through game publisher Idea Factory International, that features some footage of the game and a summer release announcement. It was also revealed that the game will also feature English, Japanese and Traditonal Chinese subtitles. Make sure to check out the new trailer below!
