DEATH STRANDING Art Director Says That The PC Version Of The Game Feels Like Watching A Movie At The Cinema

When Death Stranding was initially announced, Kojima Productions was clear that the game would be a timed-exclusive title on the PlayStation 4. In spite of this, however, and mainly due to the fact that it was only said once, players kept believing that the game would only be available on PlayStation 4.

It wasn't until October of last year, a month before the game became available, that Kojima Productions made the announcement even more official; revealing that Death Stranding would be launching on PC(Steam, Epic Games Store) on the 2nd of June. As it is to be expected, this version would feature some improvements over the console version.

On account of the COVID-19 pandemic, the developer announced that they were going to be delaying the PC version of the game by 6 weeks — which also allowed them to keep polishing some details, and deliver the top quality product PC players expect from Kojima Productions, especially in the visuals department.

Today, during an interview with Geoff Keighley, Death Stranding Art Director Yoji Shinkawa addressed some of these improvements the developers have made to the PC version of the long-awaited game, revealing that the PlayStation 4 version feels like watching a TV drama, as opposed to the PC version feeling like watching a movie at the theatre due to 21:9 ultrawide screen support.

"So yeah, I touched a little bit about the ultrawide screen, but this is not just only in the game part, but this ultrawide we've adjusted so that even in the cutscenes, you can see it in ultrawide in the PC version. So compared to the previous one, I could kind of say that you're kind of watching a TV drama in the previous game, but this time in the PC version it’s more you get the impression that you’re watching a movie at the cinema," explained Shinkawa.
