The tactical FPS revival Delta Force is enjoying a massive surge in popularity after hitting a new all-time peak of 198,735 concurrent players on Steam just weeks before its upcoming PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S release on August 19th.
This resurgence is being credited to the game’s massive summer update, which dropped on July 9th and introduced a summer pass, limited-time rewards, new weapons, and even a crossover with Arknights, the hit mobile tower defense RPG.

Despite launching with a mixed Steam rating, Delta Force has found solid footing with its live service model and consistent content drops. The latest update, titled Season Break, has clearly reignited interest just in time to expand its audience to consoles.
The July 9th update was one of Delta Force’s biggest yet, offering:
- A new Summer Pass with 20 Armament Voucher rewards
- Free login bonuses including M249 - Shark Squad and M250 - Skynet weapon skins
- A new Epic Weapon Appearance
- A limited-time collab with Arknights, complete with themed content
- Store and Tactical Armament updates
- A new weapon added to the in-game arsenal
Players who joined during the 7/9 7/14 window scored multiple cosmetics and items simply for logging in.
Delta Force Invitational: $500K Esports Tournament Incoming
Capitalizing on its momentum, developer Team Jade also announced the Delta Force Invitational, an international esports tournament for the game’s Operations mode, taking place August 2nd. Players can register at playdeltaforce.com for a shot at the $500,000 prize pool.
Regions invited include:
- North America
- Europe
- Mainland China
- Japan
- South Korea
- MENA
- LATAM
- Pan-Pacific
With the console launch locked in for August 19th, Delta Force is poised to expand its player base significantly. First launched for PC and mobile earlier in 2025, the new Delta Force marks the franchise’s return after a 16-year hiatus, following Delta Force: Xtreme 2 in 2009.
The open beta kicked off in December 2024, and while reception was mixed at first, the game has evolved into one of 2025’s most quietly successful live service shooters, thanks to strong post-launch support and continuous updates.
The record-breaking player count, robust content roadmap, and upcoming esports tournament position Delta Force as a rising force in the tactical shooter genre. Whether the console release boosts its reputation or exposes its remaining flaws remains to be seen but right now, Delta Force is having its underdog moment.
With nearly 200K concurrent players and a $500K prize pool event on the horizon, Delta Force is no longer a forgotten franchise it’s a comeback story in real time. Will it be enough to make it back to the mainstream for shooter enjoyers? Only time will tell. Stay tuned to JikGuard.com for more updates as we recieve them!
