Joseph Staten, writer and design director on the 2014 shooter, has abruptly left Bungie today, as revealed in a post on the company's official blog. Staten's statement gives no real hint about why the 15-year veteran has left the company in the middle of its latest game's development. "I'm leaving to tackle new creative challenges," Staten writes. "While this may come as a surprise, fear not. It's been my pleasure building Destiny these past four years, and after the big reveal this summer, our hugely talented team is on track for greatness." Destiny is set to be released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One sometime next year. When Gamasutra reached out to Destiny publisher Activision for comment on the departure, a representative for the company said it had no comment beyond what was written in the blog post.
