A new interview published at UK trade publication MCV reveals that the cozy relationship between NIS America (publisher of the Disgaea and, in the West, Danganronpa series) and Atlus (publisher of the Persona series and, in the West, the upcoming King of Fighters XIV) have suffered a breakup.

NIS America had published Atlus' games in Europe; meanwhile, Atlus had distributed NIS America's games in North America. Now, that tie is severed.

"Around 10 days ago, we terminated our alliance with Atlus in Europe and the U.S.," NIS America managing director Takuro Yamashita told MCV. "Atlus became very picky about selecting the European publishing partner after it was bought by Sega."

This is notable because it drags the European release of the highly anticipated Persona 5 into question. The game is due for Western release sometime this year.

Sega recently reorganized itself (and Atlus) in the West, after finalizing its takeover of the publisher this month, consolidating the publishing of the two companies' games.
