The recently released Disintegration is hosting a play for free weekend across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The free weekend kicks off today, July 30, and gives players a chance to experience the sci-fi first-person shooter from V1 Interactive, a studio formed by Marcus Lehto, the co-creator of the Halo series. While classified as an FPS, Disintegration also features a mix of elements from the realtime strategy genre, creating some compelling gameplay.
Gamers can get a chance to experience this gameplay for free this weekend. The play for free weekend is available for PlayStation Plus and Xbox Gold subscribers on PS4 and Xbox One, respectively, but anyone will be able to play it for free on PC/Steam. Here are the start and end times for each of the platforms:
PlayStation 4 (PlayStation Plus)
- Start Time: July 30, 2020 - 9:00 AM PT
- End Time: August 3, 2020 - 9:00 AM PT
Xbox One (Xbox Gold)
- Start Time: July 30, 2020 - 12:00 AM PT
- End Time: August 2, 2020 - 11:59 PM PT
PC/Steam
- Start Time: July 30, 2020 - 10:00 AM PT
- End Time: August 3, 2020 - 10:00 AM PT
The entire game will be free across all of these platforms, meaning access to all three multiplayer game modes as well as the single-player campaign. Any progress earned can be transferred to the full game should you decide to eventually purchase it. It will be discounted by 40% throughout the weekend.
Disintegration launched in mid-June and failed to really gain any traction, resulting in barren online community. The game has received mixed reviews on Metacritic with the consensus being it's not bad, but also nothing special. During a summer that saw two rather large blockbuster titles release in The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima, it's no surprise that a mediocre shooter went under the radar. But alas, now is the chance to dive in and play for free to see what it's all about.
