Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean is getting the LEGO treatment from TT Games, architect of the previous successful family-friendly games based on popular media like Indiana Jones and Star Wars. Disney will publish LEGO Pirates Of The Carribbean: The Video Game on Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, PC and DS in May 2011 -- that's when the fourth film in the seafaring series, Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides arrives in theaters. The game will be based on the world and events of all four films, however, promising over 70 characters and more than 20 levels. It'll also have a 2-player co-op mode so that players can adventure through levels together, and players also have the option of a "freeplay mode" which lets them revisit cleared areas for new items "The action-packed world of Pirates of the Caribbean is a perfect fit for LEGO video games," says TT Games Publishing managing director Tom Stone, Managing Director of TT Games Publishing. "With so many wonderful characters, in such amazing environments, our teams are having great fun -- and we're sure that players will, too." Disney and LEGO will also release physical LEGO building playsets in conjunction with the release of the next film and the video games. To date the Pirates of the Caribbean films have earned over $2.5 billion in box office revenues.
