UPDATE 1:11 PM PDT The move has been confirmed by Zynga. Mattrick has been named CEO while founder Mark Pincus is to continue as chairman of the board and chief product officer. You can find the full story here. Newsbrief: Multiple outlets including AllThingsD are reporting that the president of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business, Don Mattrick, is departing the company to become CEO of Zynga. Mattrick, who famously said during last month's E3 that backwards compatibility for consoles was "backwards" thinking, and that the solution to Xbox One's then-publicized 24-hour check-in requirement was to buy an Xbox 360, is expected to officially announce his new position at Zynga as early as later today, after markets close. Gamasutra has reached out to Zynga and Microsoft for comment and we expect to have more for you soon.
