"We looked at it, but for an average customer it's, like, thousands of dollars [for the set up]."

- Albert Penello, head of product planning for Xbox One, delivers the news that the IllumiRoom technology is unlikely to be released to the public. Microsoft showed a proof-of-concept video of the IllumiRoom tech earlier this year. The tech utilizes the Kinect camera, coupled with a projector, to change the appearance of the room around your TV, potentially extending your field of view in the game and inducing an added feeling of motion. However, as part of a Q&A session and as reported by AusGamers, Penello said that we shouldn't expect to see the tech greenlit any time soon. "It's very, very cool tech but it's, like, for a consumer, it requires projectors and things," he noted. "It's really super-neat if you're in the lab and you've got Microsoft money."
