Despite delays related to an ongoing trademark dispute, developer Double Fine has promised downloadable mech title Trenched will eventually see a European release. "The one thing I do know is that the game will be released in [Europe]!" Trenched producer Brad Muir told Destructoid in a statement. "It might take a while, but Europeans will have the opportunity to stick it to Vlad and his Tubes." Calling the ongoing dispute over the name "very frustrating," Muir pointed out that Microsoft owns the Trenched IP, and that the company is "working to resolve things as quickly as possible." "I wish there were more information to give but it's still unclear as to how things will shake out," he added. Trenched's European release -- initially planned to follow closely after the game's June 22 U.S. debut -- was delayed after a dispute made by the Portuguese designer of the board game Trench, who holds a trademark for that title across board and computer games. Microsoft could avoid the issue altogether by simply changing the name for the European version, as Nintendo did when it released the SNES title Star Fox as StarWing in the UK and Australia.
