Rumours about a brand-new Star Wars video game had been doing the rounds for a while, and just last week Electronic Arts confirmed that the rumours were true — introducing players to developer Motive's brand-new online multiplayer game in the form of Star Wars: Squadrons.
The good news was yet to come, since the announcement trailer for the game also revealed that Star Wars: Squadrons is actually releasing this October, so players won't have to wait that long to play these new title.
On top of that, it was also confirmed that it is a current-gen title, so no need to purchase a new console to play the game just yet — which is probably one of the most welcomed news that Electronic Arts and Motive could've given to fans of George Lucas' popular space-opera franchise.
Star Wars: Squadrons will give players a single player campaign with a proper Star Wars story to go with, but the game's forte is its online multiplayer aspect — which sees players choosing a faction and engaging in dogfights with other people in action-packed 5v5 matches.
The game may still be a few months away from releasing, and thanks to Electronic Arts we have some new screenshots for Star Wars: Squadrons — which gives us a look at some of the game's characters, as well as some of the iconic starfighters that players will be able to fly when Motive's new title finally becomes available.
