EnVie Entertainment is using technology from streaming data company BitRaider and middleware maker BigWorld Technology in developing its upcoming VIE: Virtual Island of Entertainment. In developing VIE, described as a "3D world with social game elements," enVie will use BigWorld's licensed technology to "focus their efforts on the actual design of their virtual world without needing to dedicate resources to internal tools development," according to a statement. BitRaider's technology, meanwhile, will let VIE users download assets progressively as they play, instead of downloading a massive installation package at the outset, and allow for automatic patching as the game loads. "By integrating BigWorld Technology, we are able to make VIE the most visually immersive 3D virtual world experience," enVie Interactive president Stacey Hirata said in a statement. "BitRaider has helped us accelerate the delivery of this experience to our guests and we’re thrilled by the results from these amazing partnerships."
