Unreal Engine developers can now access the official 4.10 update from Epic, which includes a slew of improvements and fixes -- chief among them VR rendering optimization and mobile graphics upgrades.

What stands out about this update is the emphasis on improving the engine's performance in VR applications, most notably Epic's Bullet Train VR demo (pictured.) With 4.10 all UE4 devs can now access a "Hidden and Visible Mesh optimization" feature to cut down on GPU overhead when rendering games in a VR headset.

Mobile developers may also appreciate the fact that refraction effects are now fully supported on most mobile platforms, as well as the addition of a scalable material rendering system to make it easier for you to selectively disable rendering features so your game will perform well on older hardware.

As usual, developers can head over to the Unreal Engine blog to see a full list of what's new in Unreal Engine 4.10 and who contributed to the update.
