Developer CCP Games is doing its bit to unite the virtual reality community by bringing cross-platform support to its upcoming EVE Online spin-off, EVE: Valkyrie

Valkyrie executive producer, Owen O'Brien, broke the news at the latest EVE Fanfest in Reykjavik, Iceland.

"What we haven't said before, and will for the first time here on stage is cross-platform play," said O'Brien, as reported by Polygon.

"Valkyrie, from the outset, was made as a VR game, and we want people irrespective of the platform they're playing on to be able to flight together and die together. So that's a big important thing for us. That everyone can play together and we break down the barriers."

EVE: Valkyrie is available right now on the Rift, and will be coming to the HTC Vive later this year. The game will also be a PlayStation VR launch title when Sony's headset hits shelves in October
