In October a trio of triple-A vets publicly debuted their new Seattle studio Drifter Entertainment, and now they've managed to raise $2.25 million in funding to develop competitive multiplayer virtual reality games.
What's interesting here is the talent involved: Drifter's founding team includes former Epic Games GM Ray Davis, ex-Microsoft designer/director Brian Murphy, and former Oculus art director Kenneth Scott.
Between them they have credits on everything from Quake 3 to Gears of War to Microsoft's HoloLens headset.
Drifter's stated goal is to build "VR eSports games", and the newfound wealth it just raised from investors is reportedly going to be spent on doing just that.
