Firelight introduces FMOD Studio audio middleware

Newsbrief: Firelight Technologies has released FMOD Studio, its new audio middleware replacing FMOD Designer, adding interface and performance enhancements for streamlining game audio management/creation. FMOD Studio has a "Pro Audio" approach that includes a mixer deck with hardware control surface support, a new multi-track editor and music system, a profiling and audio capture interface, and various multi-use collaboration interfaces. It also features a live in-game audio composer -- which Firelight claims is the world's first -- that enables users to create, add, edit, and mix audio content in real time. The middleware is compatible with all platforms, and is designed to use less resources than FMOD Designer. A number of big-budget titles have used Firelight's FMOD middleware in the past, including World of Warcraft, Guitar Hero, L.A. Noire and Crysis.
