Newsbrief: Nintendo said this week that the first arrest has been made in Japan under the country's amended Unfair Competition Prevention Act, which was revised last year to combat piracy-enabling devices. Devices such as the infamous R4 card allow consumers to circumvent copyright protection on handheld game consoles like the Nintendo DS and DSi. A man has been arrested for selling a number of the devices said Nintendo, as translated by Wired. Although Nintendo did not detail the case, it praised the Aichi Prefectural Police, adding, "We hope that these devices will disappear from the marketplace in light of this recent action."
