Canadian indie outfit turned free-to-play games company Hothead Games, which now runs a games as a service model for all of its mobile titles, has opened a new studio in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
As well as being a sign of steady growth, the Kill Shot, Big Win Sports, and Boom Boom Football developer's Canadian expansion has allowed the team to hire new staff, meaning there are now 130 employees on the Hothead books.
"Setting up Hothead in Halifax was an easy decision, as the growth in tech, the great schools, and the history of the local games sector in that area matched well with our own objectives for growth," said Vlad Ceraldi, Hothead’s director of development.
"By working with Nova Scotia’s business development agency, the NSBI, we were able to expand quickly and build a creative environment that we feel can help take us to the next level."
Hothead's new Nova Scotia division consists of a full, 25-person strong development team, and is currently focused on developing core technology while working on the studio's first person shooter series, Kill Shot.
