Gaikai streaming WB's LOTR, D&D MMOs in browsers

Cloud gaming service Gaikai has signed an agreement to stream trials for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's MMORPGs The Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons & Dragons Online on their respective web sites. This move further lowers the barrier of entry for these two online titles, no longer requiring North American users in to download and install PC clients to try out the games, as they can now load the demo immediately in their web browser. Both titles, which are developed by WBIE studio Turbine, have also switched from subscription-only models to free-to-play in recent years, making it easier for users to try the games out and significantly increasing their revenues since the change. These are the first MMORPGs Gaikai has added to its game streaming service. It's previously made streaming demos available for big games like The Witcher 2, FIFA Soccer 12 and others on its network. "MMOs have always been one of the key genres that we've wanted to deliver via the cloud," says Gaikai's executive vice president Robert Stevenson. "Never before has it been possible to play MMOs in this way."
