Gamescom: Sony Releasing Wi-Fi-Free 'Value PSP' For 99 Euros In Fall

At a Gamescom press conference today, Sony revealed a new value model of the PSP, without wi-fi support, will be available in Europe for 99 euros this Fall. The new unit will be compatible with the entire PSP library, the company said, drawing a distinction between the UMD-free PSP go, which saw limited success after launching in 2009. However, downloadable games from the PlayStation Store will theoretically be loadable via USB. The move comes as Sony prepares to launch the PlayStation Vita, which is not due in the United States and Europe until next year. According to a report on video game blog Kotaku, there are currently no plans to release the new value model outside of Europe.
