In the God of War games, players control Kratos, a Spartan warrior who is sent by the Greek gods to kill Ares, the god of war.
As the story progresses, Kratos is revealed to be Ares' former servant, who had been tricked into killing his own family and is haunted by terrible nightmares.
It's unclear which instalment of the series this TV show will be based on, but the latest effort would work well.
There's a big Marvel Cinematic Universe connection with that creative team as Fergus and Ostby (who landed an Oscar nomination for Children of Men) co-wrote Iron Man. Judkins, meanwhile, was a writer and producer on ABC's popular Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D TV series.
