Great British Writers' Guild Awards 2011 Shortlist Revealed

The Writers' Guild of Great Britain has revealed its shortlist for its 2011 awards, including the award for best video game writing. Splash Damage's writer-designer Edward Stern is up for the Best Videogame award, for his work on multiplayer shooter Brink, released earlier this year. Alex Garland and Tameem Antoniades, co-writers of last year's Enslaved: Odyssey to the West are up for the award thanks to their joint effort on the action adventure title. Kieron Gillen, who left full-time games journalism last year for comic-book writing with Marvel, is also up for the award, due to his writing work on adventure game The Curfew. The awards will be presented on November 16 as part of the Writers' Guild Awards 2011, at the Tabernacle in Notting Hill. Earlier this year, the Writers' Guild of America chose to honor the team behind Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood's story and script at its annual awards, as the title beat nominees like Fallout: New Vegas and God of War III.
