The Witcher 3 senior designer Damien Monnier announced his departure from CD Projekt Red over Twitter last month and has recently revealed that he’ll be joining the ranks of another Polish game studio: Dying Light creator Techland.

According to Eurogamer, Monnier will be joining Techland as the lead designer on the developer’s new project: an open-world, fantasy title with some cues from role-playing games. That genre is nothing new for Monnier, who worked on the Witcher 3 franchise at CD Project Red for four years before his recent departure.

In addition to his experience with the main Witcher games, Monnier also worked as one of the lead designers on Gwent, the stand-alone digital card game based on The Witcher series.

"As a whole, we're extremely excited to welcome all the recent additions to the Techland family,” said a statement from Techland. “We've got really big ambitions for our next internally developed games so people with ingenious ideas as well as the skill and knowledge to bring them to life are absolutely essential."
