Hades, the award-winning rogue-like dungeon crawler from Supergiant Games and Private Division, has arrived on consoles. The critically acclaimed title, which first launched on PC and Nintendo Switch last year, is now playable on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X and Xbox One.
On next-gen consoles, Hades actually receives a technical boost, capable of running at 4K with a target 60 frames per second. On Xbox One and PS4, it performs at 1080p at a target 60fps. Additionally, the game makes use of the PS5's DualSense functionality with enhanced controller vibration and lighting.
Although also available digitally, the physical retail edition of Hades offers some extra goodies, including a digital download code for the Hades Original Soundtrack. Boxed copies of the game also come with a full-color, 32-page character compendium booklet featuring illustrious character art from Supergiant Games' BAFTA Award-winning art director Jen Zee.
In Hades, you play as the immortal Prince of the Underworld attempting to hack and slash his way out of the Underworld. Supergiant Games is known for delivering stellar game experience, and Hades is said to combine the best of aspects of them all; the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre. As a rogue-like, it's never the same experience each time you play.
“With Hades, we wanted to make the thrilling experience of rogue-like games more inviting than ever before, through a design that makes dying and retrying a big part of the story and fun," said Greg Kasavin, Creative Director at Supergiant Games. "We’re really looking forward to hearing from PlayStation and Xbox players as they delve into our vision of the Underworld of Greek myth, and discover its many surprises."
Hades on PS4 also comes with a free upgrade to the digital PS5 version. On Xbox, it makes use of Smart Delivery, meaning you can play the game across the entire family of Xbox consoles.
