Earlier today Samsung formally revealed its Gear VR headset, and several developers across the AAA-indie spectrum have already stepped forward and pledged to develop games for the platform. So far it's mostly mobile-focused developers, which is unsurprising in light of the fact that the Gear VR is basically a head-mounted shell that you strap a Galaxy Note 4 smartphone into; the phone acts as your VR screen, and developers can then source player input from either a Bluetooth gamepad or the touchpad and back button on the right side of the Gear VR headset. The headset is powered by Oculus VR's Mobile SDK, which it developed in partnership with Samsung. Speaking to developers working on Gear VR titles, Gamasutra has learned that Oculus has been heavily involved in supporting development for the Gear VR via its Mobile SDK.
