How to Delete an eBay Account

Before you begin the account closing process, make sure everything is in order:

• You must have no outstanding balances with buyers, sellers, or the site itself. All fees must be paid, and your balance must be zero before you can close your account.
• All subscriptions must be canceled.
• You must have no unresolved suspensions or restrictions.
• You can't be actively bidding on any items. If you are, either cancel those eBay bids or wait for the auction to end before deleting your account.

If you tick all of those boxes, follow these steps to delete your eBay account:

1. Open the eBay website and select My eBay at the top. If you're prompted to log in, do so now.

2. Select the Account tab.

3. Select Close account under the Account Preferences heading.

   

4. Select Close account at the bottom of the page.

   

5. Select an option from the menu under Tell us why you're leaving, and then select one of the provided reasons.

   

6. Read through the information about closing your account. When ready, tick the box next to I want to close my eBay account, and then select Submit to send your closure request.

   

eBay will email you about the status of your account closure within the next 24 hours. Be sure to check your email because you might need to provide some more information first.

What Happens When I Delete My eBay Account?

Deleting your account is permanent, but it's not immediate. eBay says it usually takes two weeks to close an account once you've completed Step 6 above. This could be extended to up to 60 days if you've had any recent transactions, payments, claims, or disputes.

Once it's complete, your account will no longer be accessible, meaning you won't be able to buy or sell on the platform. You'll also lose access to everything else you've been used to seeing, such as user feedback, purchase details, etc.
