Forge, that PC gameplay clip-sharing startup that launched early this year, has now raised another $4.5 million in funding from longtime backer True Ventures and other investors.
You should know that Forge raised the same amount in seed financing a few months back, meaning it's now drummed up at least $9 million in investment to date.
That suggests there's some interest in its tech, which currently allows people to capture HD clips while playing games and share those clips on various broadcast platforms (including YouTube and Twitch, where they can also livestream through Forge) without leaving the game.
“More than 241 billion minutes of gameplay are already consumed every year, and we believe Forge will become both the toolchain and hub for the very best gaming content,” stated Arjun Sethi, a representative of investor Social Capital, in a press release announcing the financing. Sethi will also, incidentally, be taking a seat on Forge's Board of Directors.
