Katamari Damacy creator, Keita Takahashi, is delving into the realm of augmented reality with new project, Woorld.
Developed by Takahashi in tandem with Funomena, a 15-strong team founded by Journey developers Robin Hunicke and Martin Middleton, Woorld is being created using Google's Project Tango technology.
According to Google, Project Tango is a form of spatial perception tech that gives mobile devices the ability to "navigate the physical world similar to how we do as humans."
Using the tech, Takahashi hopes to create a cooperative augmented reality experience focused on open-ended discovery.
"By peeking through the window of a supported handheld device, you can explore, discover, and create using digital objects and creatures that you place in physical space," explains a Funomena blog post.
"Even better, you can collaborate on that experience with friends and family as they peer into your Woorld through a shared screen."
Woorld is due to be released later this year. More information will be revealed later this week at the Google I/O developer conference.
