LEGO BATMAN: LEGACY OF THE DARK KNIGHT Announced For 2026 Release With First Look Trailer

During Gamescom Opening Live today, TT Games unveiled their next brick-breaking adventure game, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Yes, the rumors were true, and we'll be heading to Gotham City on an adventure inspired by the 86-year history of the Caped Crusader.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight isn't an exact retelling of any specific movie or comic book, but rather a celebration of the Dark Knight's rich history. It's a reimagining of the Batman universe with a fresh take on some of the most iconic moments across Batman's history, complete with TT Games' signature LEGO humor and puzzle-solving, action-adventure gameplay.

An open-world Gotham serves as the backdrop of the game, offering players an explorable playground filled with "crimes to stop, puzzles to solve, rewards to collect, and surprises to discover around every corner." Players will have the full assortment of iconic Bat-gadgets at their disposal such as Batarangs to distract or stun enemies and the Batclaw to reel them in.

In typical Telltale fashion, there will be an assortment of characters to unlock and play as, including Batman's trusted family of allies such as Jim Gordan, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, Talia al Ghul, and more. These characters also have their own signature gear, like Jim Gordon’s foam sprayer, Robin’s line launcher, and Catwoman’s whip.

This will undoubtedly prove useful when taking on Gotham's most notorious Rogues Gallery throughout the story-driven campaign, including The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul, Bane, and others.
