Mario & Sonic Olympics Series Passes 19 Million Sold, Continues With London 2012

Sega has announced that its popular Nintendo-collaborated Mario & Sonic series of games will continue this year with Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. London 2012 is the third game in the series that Sega says has sold 19 million million copies worldwide across its four SKUs. As usual, this latest iteration will be available for the Wii, though the portable version will be on the 3DS instead of the series-standard DS. "Mario and Sonic have had a phenomenally successful partnership and we are extremely proud to be able to recreate this once again with Nintendo and [International Sports Multimedia] for the London 2012 Olympic Games," said Sega chairman Naoya Tsurumi. As is typical of the series, both versions will be developed by Sega's internal Japanese staff, and will be published by Sega in Europe and the United States and Nintendo in Japan.
