Marvel Rivals is heating up once again with its biggest update yet. Season 3, officially titled "The Abyss Awakens" kicks off on July 11, bringing two highly anticipated characters into the fray: Blade and Phoenix (Jean Grey). The reveal trailer, now live on the Marvel Rivals YouTube channel, sets the stage for a high-stakes showdown between the Phoenix Force and the returning dark symbiote god Knull. Blade Finally Arrives
Long requested and teased in prior content, Blade finally makes his debut as a playable hero. The half-vampire monster hunter arrives sporting a flaming sword, sunglasses, and his iconic trench coat instantly upping the cool factor. Even the trailer’s tone shifts as soon as he appears, with an EDM synth beat kicking in while Blade slices through enemies with cinematic flair.
Although Blade sat out during the game’s vampire-themed season (oddly), his inclusion here feels like a major moment for fans, especially as his MCU debut remains in limbo. This also follows news that Blade is starring in his own upcoming video game from Arkane Studios, giving fans more reason to be hyped.
Phoenix Gameplay
Phoenix (Jean Grey), one of the most powerful telepaths in Marvel history, also joins the game as part of the new season. Her fiery visual effects and dynamic animation pit her directly against Knull, who returns as the main antagonist for Season 3. Together, she and Blade are seen fighting a corrupted “Queen in Black” version of Hela, suggesting the season’s villainous theme centers around symbiote corruption.
