Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix's, Marvel's Avengers, video game has been in development for a couple of years. Following some character remodels and gameplay tweaking, the beta is just about ready to be unleashed upon the world ahead of its fall release.
However, that doesn't mean that the developers are all out of surprises for fans. Following a war table video that was released, many aspects of the team-based gameplay were explained along with what would be available for the beta. Yet, one of the biggest surprises for fans was the announcement of Hawkeye as a playable character!
Many viewers didn't expect anymore character reveals for at least another month, but thanks to the official Playstation Twitter, there was one more surprise left to give. As a Playstation exclusive, the Tweet announced that Spider-Man would be a post-launch playable character!
According to Crystal Dynamics' associate art director Jeff Adams, there is a lot to say about the new character. As far as movement is concerned, Adams stated, "impressive acrobatic abilities will complement the experience, allowing you to seamlessly transition from navigation to combat," wanting players to feel "graceful and light." For what his combat will entail, Adams added that Spidey would, "be able to utilize a variety of web configurations and gadgets to enhance your traversal." and "impressive suite of iconic abilities and attacks at your disposal, [as well as the ability to decide] which gadgets and skills you wish to upgrade." due to his unique skill tree which will include some Pym, SHIELD and Stark tech upgrades.

Furthermore, his look will emulate the classic design of Steve Ditko and John Romita Sr. with their own flair and confirmed alternate costumes. His arrival will be accompanied by various events centered around challenges and activities to get the play accustomed to the new character. Excited for the new character? Based on the Marvel Comics superhero team the Avengers, the game is inspired by the long-running comic book mythology and adaptations in other media. ... The team is forced to reassemble to save the world from peril in the form of A.I.M. led by MODOK which threatens ending the world from superpowers.
Marvel's Avengers will release on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Stadia on September 4th and the PS5 and Xbox Series X later in the year!
