Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales was officially revealed last night during Sony's PlayStation 5 reveal event. It's a follow-up to Marvel's Spider-Man from Insomniac Games but not quite Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Rather, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales appears to be a midway point between the two.
However, there seemed to be some confusion from people regarding whether or not Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a game in and of itself or rather just an expansion or DLC for Marvel's Spider-Man. Thankfully, Sony Interactive Entertainment has clarified.
Speaking with The Telegraph, Sony Interactive Entertainment's Simon Rutter described Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales as being more akin to an expansion bolted on to an upgraded version of the original title. "I guess you could call it an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game," Rutter told the publication.
However, it's by no means just a simple remaster and reskin. The introduction of Miles Morales as the primary playable character subsequently introduces new gameplay mechanics for players to make use of — as there are abilities that are exclusive to Miles. Not to mention, it's all enhanced in general thanks to the new technology.

"There's a substantial Miles Morales component – which is the expansion element – but also within the game as well there's been major enhancements to the game and the game engine, obviously deploying some of the major PlayStation 5 technology and features."
So think of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales as more so in line with Uncharted: The Lost Legacy or Infamous: First Light, relative to Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Infamous: Second Son respectively, rather than as a full-blown sequel.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is expected to launch in Holiday 2020 alongside the PlayStation 5.
