Yesterday, Bioware released a new patch for Mass Effect Legendary Edition that was aiming to improve overall PC performance. And, from the looks of it, this patch also removed the Denuvo anti-tamper tech.
Surprisingly enough, and contrary to other publishers, EA did not include the removal of Denuvo in its patch notes. However, we can confirm at this point that all three remasters no longer use that controversial anti-tamper tech.
We don’t know why EA decided to remove Denuvo so quickly. After all, most companies usually remove Denuvo from their games a year after their release.
As we’ve already reported, the June 7th Update improves PC performance across various hardware configurations. It also fixes an issue on PC where non-standard characters in the operating system’s username would prevent the game from launching.
But anyway, this is definitely great news for those that were boycotting games using Denuvo!
