Many a time, production companies have begun development of a movie based on, the classic video game franchise, Mega Man. It never seems to come to fruition but here we are in familiar territory nonetheless.
20th Century Fox, Chernin Entertainment, and Capcom were working on a Mega Man movie prior to the former being consumed by The Walt Disney Company.
Production of the Mega Man film was cancelled, alongside that of many others.
The film rights ended up at Netflix.
Recently, it was discovered (via Rockman Corner) that Chernin Entertainment has continued production of a live-action Mega Man film for Netflix.

Production company Supermarché posted an update on their website which states that "Henry [Joost], Rel [Schulman], and their in-house producer Orlee-Rose Strauss maintain an active development slate. Features in the works include: an adaptation of Capcom’s MEGA MAN for Chernin Entertainment and Netflix, which they wrote and are directing."
Given that this was only a recent update, it's not like this would be a holdover from the aforementioned previous attempt to make a Mega Man movie, though it does involve the same writer-directors: Henry Joost and Ariel 'Rel' Schulman as well as Cherlin Entertainment.
Netflix and Capcom are yet to say anything official in regards to the production — but, with Mega Man's 35th anniversay on the horizon, perhaps they have an announcement up their sleeve.
Regardless, here's hoping this Mega Man movie actually takes off.
